Dr Thornton specializes in validated human resource management assessment and development interventions, especially the assessment center method. He has developed, implemented, validated, researched, and legally defended the assessment center method. He is author of scores of publications in refereed journals and six books including Assessment Center Perspective for Talent Management Strategies and Developing Organizational Simulations: A Guide for Practitioners, Students, and Researchers. Dr Thornton has taught at universities, made conference presentations, and consulted with organizations throughout the US, and in Canada, Germany, Belgium, Costa Rica, Switzerland, UK, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, and China.
